From what we have covered in other parts of the site, you probably know that the lasers we are looking for are 5mW, 650nm. One note, remember that the "output" energy could be different than the "input" energy, so you might want to ask the manufacturer for those specifics if you want to ensure what you are buying is strong enough.
We are ALWAYS looking for good places to get cheap diodes, so if you find some good ones, please let us know!

2016 Note from OMG: These are the BEST in the industry, and they are the only diodes that I would use!!!Their website is www.aixiz.com, and they also sell on eBay. So far, this company seems to be the best deal out there, and the five major manufactures of commercial device use these exact same diodes (as well as "The Amazing Laser Brush" and Lasermax systems).
The ones that most of us use are the 650nm 5.0mW 8x13mm for $4.00 a piece. [You can get discount pricing --EMAIL ME to inquire about it --and I can often put you right in touch with Dr. Maricle!] These have an input rating of 5mW, and an average output rating of 4mW... and don't worry, that's still just fine. These have the "focusable" lenses that we unscrew and remove so the lasers will diffuse. They have other models available, as well, including 10mW ones (I don't know if they can be made to diffuse or not, so you might want to check that out).
UPDATE: AiXiZ really wants to help out us Do-It-Yourselfers, and in response to the volume of our site, they have agreed to give us volume discounts! The first increment is 50 diodes, and the price drops from $4 to $3! This takes a big hunk off of our costs so we can now make a very effective device -on par with the commercial devices- in the $300 range now! ...And we know they will have the same quality and powered diodes that the commercial devices use!

Think L.E.D.s are as good as laser therapy/LLLT for Hair Loss? DEAD WRONG. L.E.D.'s are indeed useful for skin and health -and probably show some merit against hair loss- however, it is *not* the same thing as explained in my blog entry.

The TIME you use it each session depends on the device --I know EXACTLY how long to use the Laser Messiah II. ...But how many TIMES A WEEK is a little bit more flexible!
