Essay Part VI - Summary: Laser Therapy / LLLT for Hair Loss 101!

An Essay by OverMachoGrande: LLLT / Laser Therapy for Hair Loss, Part VI
You've read the other pages, so now it's time to put it all together!
You've read the other pages, so now it's time to put it all together!

In conclusion...

I hope you've seen that not all laser treatment is the same! I hope you have the feeling now that -whether you think LLLT is for you or not- the answer probably doesn't lie with a standard powered laser comb/brush.

We've gone through the wattage and nanometers, and unraveled the inner workings of all laser devices. We've gone though the total energy your scalp needs to get the proper biostimulation, and we've covered that this energy level is NOT REALISTICALLY ATTAINABLE a standard laser device. We've covered that LLLT therapy is not harmful, and even massive over-exposure merely negates positive benefits. We've covered that the same diodes used in commercial devices are available to us to buy for prices as cheap as $4.00 a piece. ...And finally, we've gone through the basic requirements of any do-it-yourself laser device.

Listen to me... I know you probably came to this site STRESSED OUT! One thing I've learned is that you have to stop stressing, and understand that THERE IS HOPE.

The first thing that you should allow yourself to do is actually LAUGH at this video I made a few years back starring my wife as "Smurfette" and yours truly as, I don't know, 20 smurfs and Gargamel?

If you can laugh and relax, then you are already on your way to a better future! The future is YOURS!!! [Not so much for the Smurfs, though!]

Now you know that it's not "magic" why laser clinics have great results and why laser brushes/combs don't! It's simple math, and you should be equally as offended as I am when uneducated members of forums lump the two together! Also, you've probably realized that this "market" is absolutely ridiculous- $600 for a brush with only nine $4 diodes (and that's OUR price, I'm sure they get them much cheaper) that AT BEST gives very poor results?! You're kidding me... that should be $50 maximum for that piece of garbage. And the clinical laser devices are equally as ridiculous -$40,000 for 107 diodes?? lol... OR how about spending $4000 a year at a laser clinic just so you can use a device that you can't even keep! I just don't know that to say about that!

And those are currently your only options, save for very few exceptions out there. So...

If you want to get the most amazing results you can possibly get in your fight against hair loss that is currently available, you have to use lasers with the power of a clinical laser device, PERIOD. ...And if you DON'T want to pay the price of a nice automobile (or at least a couple of mortgage payments)... you're in the right place, PERIOD.

That's it. That's the truth, those are the indisputable facts as I type this.

So consider yourself having passed "Lasers for Hair Loss 101"! What I haven't covered is HOW EASY THESE THINGS ARE TO WIRE!!! You will see this yourself by both my designs and others. For the most detailed instructions, go to my "How ridiculously easy wiring is!"

Literally, here are the only skills and tools you need:
-You have to be able to use a wire stripper to strip the ends of the lasers. This is because you need to have enough "bare wire" exposed so you can twist. all of the red wires together, and all of the black wires together. [picture] This is the trickiest part, and it's a little bit of a "learned art". You get much better at this with experience. Also, to keep from pulling the wires out of the diode when you are stripping the wires, you really need to be able to hold the base of the wire with needle-nose pliers while you strip the ends with the wire strippers.

-Then, you simply "electrical tape" the wires together --or even better, use wire nuts. Sure, soldering would be better I'm sure... but it works if you just use electrical tape to tape to keep them in place and to shield them.

-A note about the adapters: Chances are your adapter/power supply is going to have more amp requirements than a Radio Shack adapter can give. So... this means that the adapter that you get shipped to you will have a funky end on it. Well, you want to be able to attach the end of the adapter to the end of the wires coming from your device... so what do you do?

Snip it off. Yep, cut it right off. The wires coming from adapters consist of only a positive and a negative wire (just like our diodes). Radio Shack has two parts, each for about $4 a piece [UPDATE: These parts seem to be discontinued, but I have much better options in my downloadable PDFs! The concept is still sound, though!]:

Radio Shack Replacement Adaptaplug Socket
Replacement Adaptaplug Socket
1) "Replacement Adaptaplug Socket": This is the part that you attach to your snipped adapter wire. You just strip all of the wires back, and attach them together by twisting and electrical tape!

Hobby Power Leads Adaptaplug
Hobby Power Leads Adaptaplug
2) "Hobby Power Leads Adaptaplug": This is the part you attach to all of the wires of your laser device! You may need to strip back a lot of the wire on this since you might have a ginormous twisted mass of wire that you have to wrap it around.

That's it! Literally, you'll be amazed that you only have to barely touch those wires together and the diodes magically WORK! The housing contraption is up to you, and it can range from very simple to complex. I encourage you to look at all of the other designs to get some ideas in the "Do-It-Yourself Designs" section!

Were to go from here? How about take a gander at the rest of the "Must Reads" section!
